Donations in Memory of Wendi Fairweather
At ASCA Nationals in Albany in 2016 a lovely lady approached the PNW Rescue Rep asking if she could volunteer for ARPH; both were competing in agility and had seen each other at trials before. Wendi became the PNW’s premier puppy raiser for 2 years until she was diagnosed with leukemia in 2019. After chemo, a bone marrow transplant, and getting graft vs. host disease, she came back and fostered several more Aussies for ARPH. Unfortunately she had many set backs and passed away July 26, 2024.
Wendi fostered 10 dogs for ARPH. She loved puppies and training them. Wendi and her husband Patrick also evaluated and pulled several dogs for ARPH and worked many long transports.
Wendi would have fostered one more puppy except the fateful day that Aspen flew up from Texas, Wendi was diagnosed. Despite Aspen going to a different foster home, Wendi felt a special connection with her when Aspen was diagnosed with lymphoma, another blood disease, in 2021. She regularly checked in to find out how she was doing, even from the hospital.
The hearts of the Pacific Northwest volunteers go out to Patrick and her family. Please join us in remembering her and consider donating to ARPH in her memory.
